BALANCED CTO to speak at event headlined by Dr. Anthony Fauci
BALANCED CTO, Corey Clark, PhD, will be a highlighted guest at the Retina Foundation’s Virtual Fireside Chat event featuring special guest speaker Dr. Anthony Fauci. The event, titled Up Close and Personal with Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, will take place on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. CST. The event, which focuses on what can be accomplished through cooperative partnerships between industry and public institutions, will feature a segment where Dr. Clark will speak about collaborations he has coordinated between public-private partnerships to improve health science research. These include highlighting BALANCED’s partnership with the Retina Foundation where, using Eye in the Sky: Defender, a game utilizing HEWMEN technology, we were able to significantly improve the effectiveness of machine learning algorithms used in a variety of computer vision applications, such the automation of interpreting Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) tomography to improve scans used in the diagnosis and treatment of Age-Related Macular Degeneration.
Anthony S. Fauci, M.D. is the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). He has made many contributions to basic and clinical research, and has advised seven U.S. Presidents in his career at the NIH. In the Up Close and Personal with Dr. Anthony S.
